2025 Fantasy Outlook
Nylander had a career-high 45 goals in 82 regular-season games last campaign. He has reached the 40-goal plateau in three straight seasons while hitting the 80-point mark in four consecutive campaigns. The 29-year-old winger collected 84 points and 253 shots in 2024-25. He ranked second on the Maple Leafs with 30 power-play points. Nylander has double-digit power-play goals in three of the last four seasons. He will remain a focal point of the offense in 2025-26, whether he moves up to the top line or remains in a second-line role, and he could reach 90 points for the second time in his NHL career. Flying start to season
Nylander scored a goal and added two assists in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens.
ANALYSIS
After Bobby McMann tipped home his shot exactly one minute into the first period for the Maple Leafs' first goal of 2025-26, Nylander helped put the game away late in the third with a helper on Auston Matthews' empty netter and an empty-net tally of his own. Nylander has reached 40 goals and 80 points in each of the last three seasons, and while it's not yet clear how Mitch Marner's departure for Vegas will shake up Toronto's top six, Nylander made a strong statement in the season opener that he could be ready to find another level.

Nylander was limited to four assists across his final 11 regular-season contests in 2023-24, which prevented him from reaching the 100-point milestone for the first time in his career. He still finished the campaign with a new personal best in assists (58) while reaching the 40-goal mark for the second straight year. Although the 28-year-old isn't at quite at the level where you would expect him to compete for any prestigious trophy, his relatively good health -- Nylander has missed just one regular-season game over the last three years and has exceeded 80 appearances in five of his past eight campaigns -- and fairly consistent play make it reasonable to expect him to both exceed the 30-goal mark and record at least 80 points for the fourth straight season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Not practicing Thursday
Nylander won't take the ice for Thursday's practice session, with head coach Craig Berube expected to provide an update afterward, Kevin McGran of The Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
At this point, Nylander should probably be considered doubtful to play in Thursday's preseason clash with Montreal -- though fantasy managers will have to wait for Berube to provide a more concrete update. If there is an injury concern, which seems likely, the winger has little time to get back to 100 percent before Opening Night against the Habs on Oct. 8.
