Yegor Sharangovich

Yegor Sharangovich

26-Year-Old Left WingLW
Calgary Flames
2024 Fantasy Outlook
In his first season with the Flames, Sharangovich set new personal bests with 31 goals, 28 assists and 17 power-play points while averaging 17:19 of ice time. As a result, the team opted to shell out for the 26-year-old winger to the tune of a five-year, $28.75 million deal. Where exactly the creative forward fits into the lineup next season likely won't be determined until training camp, especially with the addition of Anthony Mantha in free agency and the emergence of Connor Zary. Still, Sharangovich should keep his spot on the No. 1 power-play unit even if he is relegated to a middle-six role at even strength. With that responsibility in his back pocket, Sharangovich should be capable of pushing for the 60-point threshold, a mark he missed by just one point last season. Read Past Outlooks

Snags power-play assist
LWCalgary Flames
January 26, 2025
Sharangovich recorded a power-play assist and three shots on goal in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sharangovich also led Calgary forwards with 20:01 of ice time. The 26-year-old has started to recapture his 2023-24 form with three goals and four assists over his last seven contests, a span in which he has a plus-7 rating. For the season, the versatile forward is at 18 points (five on the power play), 86 shots on net and a minus-4 rating across 41 appearances. He's primarily played on the third line and is filling in at center during the absence of Connor Zary (lower body).

Sharangovich couldn't sustain his 2021-22 breakout, dropping from 46 points that season to 30 points in 75 contests in 2022-23. The Devils deemed the 25-year-old expendable, sending him to Calgary in the Tyler Toffoli trade this summer in an effort to improve their roster now. The Flames will likely find a spot for Sharangovich in the middle six, and he can be an all-situations contributor thanks to his solid defensive effort. He's also versatile, capable of playing on either wing, giving the Flames some extra flexibility. Getting onto Nazem Kadri's line would be a plus, but Sharangovich is likely to land between 35 and 40 points in 2023-24. A massive breakout is unlikely.
Sharangovich was one of New Jersey's few bright spots two seasons ago, posting 16 goals and 30 points in 54 games in his rookie campaign. He took another step forward in 2021-22, upping those totals to 24 goals and 46 points in 76 contests. Sharangovich can really shoot the puck and would seem like an ideal candidate to fill a role on New Jersey's top power-play unit, but the club gave him just 1:13 of ice time per game with the man advantage a season ago. That number appears unlikely to rise given the additions of Ondrej Palat and Erik Haula this offseason, ultimately limiting Sharangovich's appeal from a fantasy perspective.
The Devils as a whole had a dismal 2020-21 campaign, but Sharangovich was one of the club's very few bright spots. A 22-year-old rookie who had never played in the NHL before, Sharangovich appeared in 54 of New Jersey's 56 games, posting 16 goals and 30 points. He finished fourth among all rookies in both categories. Just two of Sharangovich's points came with the man advantage, which makes you think a good portion of his breakout is sustainable. His fantasy value still may be limited to deeper leagues, but he appears to be a keeper for the Devils.
Sharangovich will try to stick with the Devils in a bottom-six role, but there's nothing about the 22-year-old Belarussian's profile that suggests he's capable of turning into an impact player. The 2018 fifth-round pick has an underwhelming 19 goals and 23 assists in 125 games with AHL Binghamton over the past two seasons, though Sharangovich's discipline can be lauded, as he took just two minor penalties in 57 games last year. Even if he earns a full-time role with the big club, Sharangovich can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
