2025 Fantasy Outlook
Werenski appeared in 81 regular-season games in 2024-25, and as expected, he achieved new heights offensively. Injuries have held him back, but his offensive upside has been ever-present. He produced 23 goals, 82 points, 298 shots on net and 131 blocked shots. Werenski ranked second among all defenders in goals and points while finishing eighth with 25 power-play points. He led the league with a career-high 26:45 of ice time per contest. If the 27-year-old has put his injury woes behind him, he should be an offensive force from the blue line in 2025-26, and potential fantasy managers will likely make him one of the first defenders off the board in drafts. Racks up three more assists
Werenski registered three assists, six shots on net, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Maple Leafs.
ANALYSIS
Werenski had a hand in one goal by Dmitri Voronkov and two more by Adam Fantilli as the Blue Jackets leaned on their top players to get this win. During a five-game point streak, Werenski has posted two goals and six assists, as well as 21 shots on net. The 28-year-old defenseman is playing like a star again this year, racking up six goals, 13 helpers, 78 shots, 31 blocks and a plus-9 rating through 21 appearances.

Werenski scored 11 goals and registered a career-high 57 points in 70 contests last season. He tied for sixth among all blueliners with 45 even-strength points. After being limited to just 13 appearances in 2022-23, Werenski's longest stretch on the sidelines of 2023-24 was a 10-game absence from Jan. 23-Dec. 29 due to an ankle injury. His ability to stay healthy has held back his fantasy value in the past, which will likely be the case again this campaign. Still, Werenski has proven to be a productive player, making him an intriguing value selection in fantasy drafts. In addition to being a superb offensive defender, he added 202 shots on net and 130 blocked shots last season. If Werenski can avoid long-term injuries, he could return to the 50-point plateau in 2024-25.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Skipping preseason finale
Werenski, along with Sean Monahan, will stay in Columbus when the team travels to Washington for Saturday's preseason finale, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Werenski is perfectly healthy and ready to face the Predators for Thursday's Opening Night matchup. The duo is simply enjoying the benefit of being NHL veterans and skipping out on a preseason tilt. Last season was a career year for the 28-year-old Werenski, as he set personal bests with 23 goals, 59 assists and 25 power-play points. It may be hard for the Michigan native to repeat that level of performance this year, but he should still land near the 60-point threshold.
