2025 Fantasy Outlook
Last season, MacEwan played in 21 regular-season games for the Senators and likely will see similar deployment during the 2025-26 campaign, splitting his time between the NHL and AHL. Given his lack of a defined role with Ottawa, the 29-year-old center is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value moving forward. Even when he does play in the NHL, MacEwan has offered limited offensive upside, generating just three points in those 21 appearances. Read Past Outlooks
Done for season
MacEwen had knee surgery and will be lost for the remainder of the season, Kristy Flannery of The Hockey News reports Saturday.
ANALYSIS
MacEwen was injured Nov. 12 and underwent ACL surgery, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe. MacEwen managed six hits and four shots on goal across three appearances for the Devils this season. He should be healthy enough to return for the start of training camp, though he will be an unrestricted free agent come July 1.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2020
2019
Between time in the minors and injury, MacEwen logged just 30 contests with Ottawa last season -- his fewest NHL games since 2019-20. When he was in the lineup, he recorded two goals, three points, 57 PIM and 55 hits. MacEwen is projected to open the 2024-25 campaign on the Senators' fourth line and will likely move between that role and time as a healthy scratch over the course of the season. When he plays, the 28-year-old is a great source of PIM and hits, but you can't count on him to consistently be in the lineup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might return Monday
MacEwen could return from an upper-body injury against the Islanders on Monday after taking line rushes at the game-day skate, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
MacEwen has been sidelined for the Devils' last 13 games due to his upper-body problem but looks ready to get back into the lineup Monday. In order to suit up versus New York, the 29-year-old center will need to first be activated off injured reserve. Even once given the all-clear, MacEwen is far from a lock to play on a nightly basis and may be a healthy scratch on occasion.
