Chase Hooper
The Teenage Dream

USA
Momentum dashed in knockout loss
Hooper lost to Alexander Hernandez via TKO (punches) at 4:58 of Round 1 at UFC 319 on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois.
ANALYSIS
It was clear early on that the speed of Hernandez was troubling Hooper, as he was continually getting stung with counter shots. This came to a head at the end of Round 1, when "The Dream" threw out a lazy jab and got crushed by Hernandez's overhand right. Hooper came into this bout having won five in a row, and while he has plenty of time to get back on track, it represents another in a sequence of course-correcting defeats. Hooper falls to 16-4-0 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Cruises as biggest favorite on card
Hooper defeated Jim Miller via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 314 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
For a second fight in a row, Hooper found himself as the biggest favorite on the card, this time at north of -900. He was able to get Clay Guida out of there in less than four minutes in December, but had to go the distance today against another veteran in Miller. This fight was fairly even for about a round before Hooper floored the gas pedal and made it a grappling match. He landed seven takedowns and 8:11 worth of control time in the final two rounds alone, cruising to the win. Hooper is still just 25 years old, and his striking, while not a strength, keeps improving. He's won five straight and is without a defeat dating back to October 2022.

Cruises as biggest favorite on card
Hooper defeated Clay Guida via submission (armbar) at 3:41 of Round 1 at UFC 310 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A victory over the 42-year-old Guida as a -1200 favorite doesn't mean a heck of a lot, but Hooper continues to improve, particularly in the stand-up. His grappling skills have always been high-end, but he's finally learned how to use his size and length on the feet as a weapon. Still just 25 years old, Chase's UFC run got off to an uneven start, but he's won four straight dating back to May 2023, with the last three wins coming via submission. He's a real threat in there. In the meantime, Hooper will walk away with one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening.

Slated to face Guida
Hooper will take on Clay Guida in a lightweight bout at UFC 310 on Dec. 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This is an interesting fight for Hooper, as he's 17 years younger than Guida and has fought in 27 less UFC bouts. Hooper will be looking to stack his fourth-straight UFC win after most recently taking care of Slava Borshchev back in May. Meanwhile, Guida will be looking for redemption as he's lost two straight UFC fights.
