Suffers hamstring tear

Curtis announced he suffered a Grade 3 hamstring tear, according to his announcement Monday.
ANALYSIS
It turns out that Curtis' hamstring injury he suffered against Brendan Allen was also the most severe hamstring injury he could get, which is expected to keep him out for a while, maybe even until 2025. He went 1-2 with a no-contest across his last four fights.

Drops war to Brendan Allen

Curtis lost to Brendan Allen via split decision (47-48, 48-47, 46-49) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Curtis won via second-round knockout when these two first met in December 2021. He was unable to emerge victorious here, but put forth another credible showing, particularly considering he accepted the fight on short notice. Curtis matches up very well against Allen because he's about the most durable man in the sport today. Brendan is primarily a brawler and Chris is willing to eat shots to get to his own offense. The difference in this fight was Allen's wrestling. Curtis is known for his exceptional takedown defense, but he allowed his opponent to land 6-of-13 attempts, a couple of which came at key times. It should also be noted Chris appeared to injure his leg late in the fight. He essentially had to be held up as the decision was announced and was assisted to the back after the bout. Having fought four times (1-2, 1NC) in the past year, Curtis is due some time off regarding of whether or not the injury is serious.

Digs deep for UFC 297 win

Curtis defeated Marc-Andre Barriault via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27) at UFC 297 on Saturday in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Facing a tough opponent in a hostile environment, Curtis did enough to win, but it wasn't particularly entertaining until the final three or four minutes. Chris managed a few of his trademark punches here and there, but neither man managed much separation for the duration of the bout. To Curtis' credit, he defended very well, making sure Barriault -- a known power puncher -- was never able to string together damaging blows. Chris will be 37 years of age this coming July. His 2-2 (1NC) record in his past five fights is underwhelming, but Curtis' ability to fight often and in multiple weight classes is an asset for a company that holds an event almost every week.

Curtis (undisclosed) will compete against Marc-Andre Barriault in a middleweight fight at UFC 297 in Toronto on Jan. 20, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
After withdrawing from a Sept. 16 fight against Anthony Hernandez in August, Curtis has recovered relatively quickly and will look to begin his 2024 campaign immediately. 2023 was a rough year for the Action Man, who lost to Kelvin Gastelum and fought Nassourdine Imavov to a no-contest.

ANALYSIS
Instead of fighting Curtis, Hernandez will compete against Kopylov. The new bout likely indicates Curtis withdrew, and the reasoning for his withdrawal has yet to be publicized.
