Takes hard-luck loss
Barbosa lost to Karine Silva via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 319 on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois.
ANALYSIS
Barbosa's striking looked better than ever in this one, as she continually stung Silva with jabs while pouring on the pressure. While she was nearly finished with a choke in Round 3, it did appear that "The Witch" had done enough in the first two frames to take home the victory. Though she didn't get the decision here, Barbosa may have a future in this division if her striking can complement her grappling. She falls to 8-4 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

That was the result of Belbita's recent struggles, and to Barbosa's credit, she took took advantage. Dione actually held her own on the feet, but Maverick did an excellent job of forcing her to the mat on multiple occasions, and Barbosa, a ground specialist, was far too accepting of being on her back. She displayed no urgency to get back to her feet, making it impossible for Barbosa to win a decision. Already 32 years of age and with only nine pro fights under her belt, Barbosa appears to be little more than roster depth for the UFC.
