Late-notice submission victory
Lima defeated Muhammadjon Naimov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:15 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
Stepping in for Melsik Baghdasaryan on short notice, Lima displayed plenty of creativity and an excellent submission game to earn the victory in his UFC debut. He scored a Round 3 takedown and was able to take Naimov's back in an instant. The rare-naked choke was immediately clamped on, and Naimov was tapping out moments later. That effort would go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. Just 26 years of age, Lima has won 13 fights in a row since dropping his pro debut back in August 2015. The Brazilian is a fighter to keep an eye on moving forward in a loaded featherweight division.
