Toughness on display in loss
Light HeavyweightUFC

Hill lost to Jiri Prochazka via TKO (punches) at 3:01 of Round 3 at UFC 311 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Hill clearly returned too early from a serious Achilles injury and the end result was a knockout defeat to Alex Pereira in a title fight in the main event of UFC 300 last April. He looked healthier and much more effective here against Prochazka, although the end result was the same. Jamahal essentially matched Jiri blow-for-blow in terms of numbers, but the larger shots came from the other side. Hill did a nice job of working himself back into the fight in Round 2 following a Round 1 knockdown, but one huge flurry from Prochazka early in the final frame put Hill behind the eight ball once again. He was finished with about two minutes left. Set to turn 34 years of age this coming May, back-to-back defeats have put Hill miles from truly re-entering the championship conversation, even in a thin 205-pound division.

Prochazka up next
Light HeavyweightUFC
November 23, 2024
Hill will fight Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 on Jan. 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill failed to capture the light heavyweight title in his most recent bout against Alex Pereira in April, and a knee injury has prevented him from fighting since then. Now healthy, he'll look to get back on track against Prochazka, who also failed (for the second time) to take down Pereira in his last fight.
Out of UFC 303

June 13, 2024
Hill will not fight Carlos Ulberg at UFC 303 because of a knee injury, according to UFC President Dana White.
ANALYSIS
Instead of Hill, Anthony Smith will fight Ulberg at UFC 303. As for the ex-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, it is unclear when he gets cleared from his current injury. What has been clear is his lack of luck since winning gold back in January 2023. He vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship because of an Achilles rupture, suffered a first-round knockout during his return and now this.
Co-main eventing UFC 303
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 23, 2024
Hill will take on Carlos Ulberg in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 30, per Christopher Reive of the New Zealand Herald.
ANALYSIS
Hill will head into the fight against Ulberg coming off a first-round knockout loss to Alex Pereira in April. The six-foot-four American will hope to get back to his winning ways against the rising Ulberg, as the Kiwi will ride a six-fight win streak into the event. Hill will hope to use a slight reach advantage to his benefit in the fight, though Ulberg has the knockout power to stop the former champion in his tracks.
Needs new opponent
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 20, 2024
Hill is in need of a new opponent for UFC 303 on June 29 after Khalil Rountree announced via his personal Instagram account that he would be withdrawing after consuming a banned substance.
ANALYSIS
While it sounds like Rountree's consumption of a banned substance was fully accidental, it will result in the UFC needing to find a new opponent for Hill. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion currently sits at No. 3 in the 205-pound rankings after falling short against current champion Alex Pereiera via first-round KO in April.
Quick turnaround scheduled
Light HeavyweightUFC
April 24, 2024
Hill is scheduled to compete against Khalil Rountree in a light heavyweight fight at UFC 303 in Paradise on June 29, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
It is rare for a former UFC champion to fight quickly after a knockout championship loss, but that is exactly what Hill is doing. Serving as part of the co-main to a long-awaited fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, Hill will look to step up in what is expected to be another highly publicized card. Defeating Rountree will keep Hill in the running for Alex Pereira, the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
