Outlasts Romanov at UFC 278
Tybura defeated Alexandr Romanov via majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28) at UFC 278 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Tybura had a dreadful Round 1, as he was unable to log a single significant strike and conceded 4:27 of control time to his opponent. He was literally tossed around by Romanov, who could have easily been awarded a 10-8 round, but only one judge ultimately saw it that way. Romanov was unable to keep the same pace in the high Utah altitude, however, which allowed the experienced Tybura to control the fight entirely in Rounds 2 and 3. He outlanded Romanov 47 to 26 in the final two frames, which was enough to earn the nod -- his sixth victory in his last seven trips to the Octagon. The only concerning part was that he was unable to finish an exhausted opponent, and he'll need to display a bit more power in order to contend with the upper echelon of the heavyweight division. Still, it's an impressive victory for a fighter who came in as roughly a (+265) betting underdog.

Out with illness
Tybura (illness) was removed from his heavyweight bout with Jair Rozenstruik on Friday, cancelling the bout at UFC 273.
ANALYSIS
With the fight scheduled for Saturday, Tybura's last-second illness sinks UFC's chance to find a replacement for the fight. The 36-year-old has not fought since October, losing his first match since September 2019, allowing Alexander Volkov to defeat him via unanimous decision. Tybura will now likely have to wait another few months before attempting to get back in the win column.

Facing Jair Rozenstruik
Tybura will take on Jair Rozenstruik on April 9, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Tybura lost a unanimous decision against Alexander Volkov in his last fight back in October, ending a five-match winning streak. Rozenstruik is also coming off a unanimous decision loss, with his coming against Curtis Blaydes in September. That result dropped him to 2-3 over his last five fights.
