Suffers torn ACL in Saturday defeat

Maverick revealed via her personal Instagram account that she suffered a torn ACL in Round 2 of her loss to Rose Namajunas at UFC Atlanta on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Given the news, it was an impressive feat to simply finish the 15-minute fight for Maverick, even if the end result didn't go her way. Assuming the self-reported diagnosis is true, she'll now presumably spend at least the rest of the 2025 calendar year on the sidelines. Her spot in the rankings (she was previously No. 11) may also be on thin ice.

Once again can't get over hump

Maverick lost to Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
It was a typical Maverick performance in the sense she had her moments against a high-end opponent but once again came up short. Miranda's best moment of the fight was a reversal late in Round 2 which she was able to turn into a deep submission attempt. She didn't do much on the feet, which is typically the case for her, and she allowed Rose a pair of takedowns and 6:33 worth of control time. Maverick has no stopping power in her hands and isn't much of a technical grappler, instead relying on her brute strength. It's almost more than enough to get past middle-of-the-road opposition, but not more than that. The 27-year-old is now 6-4 in her past 10 fights, with all four defeats coming against the four best opponents she has seen during the stretch (Namajunas, Jasmine Jasudavicius, Erin Blanchfield, Maycee Barber).

Maverick will face Rose Namajunas in a flyweight bout as the co-main event of UFC Atlanta on June 14.
ANALYSIS
This bout between Namajunas and Maverick has been in the works for quite some time, but now it's official that these two superstars will collide on June 14. Maverick has been on a tear of late and has won each of her last four fights, while Namajunas has had a tough time at flyweight, going 2-2 over her last four bouts.

Maverick and fellow flyweight Rose Namajunas are fighting in what is expected to be UFC Atlanta on June 14, per Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
ANALYSIS
June 14 is a legitimate opportunity for Maverick to advance into the top 10 of the UFC's flyweight rankings. She has the momentum to do so, having won each of her last four fights.

Maverick defeated Jamey-Lyn Horth via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Tampa, Florida.
ANALYSIS
She got the win she was seeking against a late-notice opponent, but this was one of Maverick's worst performances to date, a fact she openly admitted in her post-fight presser. Entering as upwards of a -900 favorite, Maverick went 2-for-9 on takedowns, but she did rack up 6:50 of control time. She does deserve credit for finding a takedown in Round 3 with the outcome totally up for grabs, but Miranda managed just 24 significant strikes and did next to nothing with her seemingly-constant positional advantage. It doesn't feel as if Maverick is making a ton of progress despite the fact she's won four in a row dating back to July 2023.

Maverick will now fight Jamey-Lyn Horth at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Maverick was originally slated to fight Tracy Cortez in December, but the latter was forced to withdraw Tuesday due to an injury. Maverick will now have a chance to extend her winning streak to four while facing an opponent who is coming off a win over Ivana Petrovic last Saturday.
