Randy Brown
Rude Boy

Jamaica
No-shows first UFC main event
Brown lost to Gabriel Bonfim via KO (knee) at 1:40 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Brown's first UFC main event was an unmitigated disaster. This is a guy who almost always gives a strong performance every single time out, but he wasn't the least bit competitive here against Bonfim. The main reason why was the fact Brown appeared to have either no desire or no ability to check a leg kick. He ate a countless number of them early on, and that put Bonfim in the driver's seat. The end came when Brown was obliterated with a knee to the face. He appeared to go out before awaking when hitting the mat, but referee Mark Smith immediately jumped in and didn't give him a chance to continue. This was probably Brown's one real opportunity to move up the ranks at 170 pounds, and he wasn't able to take advantage.

Booked vs. Bonfim
Brown will face Gabriel Bonfim in a welterweight bout at UFC Rio on Oct. 11, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Brown is coming off a bounce-back win over Nicolas Dalby, dropping his opponent with a right hook in the second round of a fight back in April. That pushed the veteran fighter's record to 14-6, and he'll look for win number 15 against an opponent in Brown who is coming off three straight victories and is off to an excellent start in the UFC at 5-1.

Gets right back in win column
Brown defeated Nicolas Dalby via KO (punch) at 1:39 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Brown becomes the first person to stop the 40-year-old Dalby in his long professional career. It didn't come easy. Randy dominated the entirety of Round 1, breaking Dalby's nose with a crushing blow. Yet, the latter kept coming. The fight turned into a wild brawl midway through Round 2 before Randy ended it for good with a massive right hand. Time is against Brown given he'll be 35 years old in July, but he's 4-1 in his last five fights, and the lone defeat came against a quality opponent in Bryan Battle, who missed weight for the fight. Brown is making a case for the top-15. Regardless of where he ends up, he'll walk away $50,000 richer after this back-and-forth affair was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Added to UFC Kansas City
Brown will take on Nicolas Dalby in a welterweight matchup at UFC Kansas City on April 26, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown last competed in December, dropping a decision against a heavy Bryan Battle to snap his three-fight winning streak. He now draws Dalby, who's been on the sidelines a bit due to an undisclosed injury. Brown has four-inch advantages in both height and reach, plus a slight statistical edge in both striking offense and defense. He also has a superior takedown defense in case Dalby looks to take this one to the mat, though that isn't necessarily his trademark skill.

Drops decision to heavy opponent
Brown lost to Bryan Battle via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC 310 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This one could have legitimately gone either way. It was a strong showing by Brown, one made all the more impressive by the fact Battle missed weight by four pounds Friday morning. Brown took a chunk of his purse and was more than willing to let the fight proceed. Randy was the more impactful striker and did fine when the two men were at distance, but he spent more and more time being controlled along the fence as the fight progressed. Ultimately, two of the three judges simply felt he didn't generate enough offense over the course of the final 10 minutes. "Rude Boy" entered having won three in a row and seven of eight, so his roster spot is plenty secure despite the setback.

Battling against Battle
Brown (toe) is scheduled to compete against fellow welterweight Bryan Battle at UFC 310 in Paradise on Dec. 7, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
It took Brown a little over four months for his toe to pass medical clearance and get a fight scheduled. He will look to finish his 2024 strong after already beginning this year with wins over Muslim Salikhov (TKO) and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (unanimous decision).
