Winning streak hits five
BantamweightUFC
January 14, 2023
Pennington defeated Ketlen Vieira via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
If you polled countless people that watched this fight, it's quite likely the majority would have scored it for Vieira. That said, this is far from the biggest robbery we have seen in recent months. Pennington deserves credit for getting back on track following a slow start. Raquel is at her best when she gets in tight and turns her bouts into close, grinding affairs. She was much more effective at that over the course of the final ten minutes. There's zero doubt Vieira's punches had more sting behind them, but Pennington did enough in the eyes of two of the three judges. The winner of five fights in a row, Pennington called for a for a shot at UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes in her post-fight interview. It sounds pretty ridiculous on the surface, but there may be no better options at the moment. Raquel would be a monumental underdog if that fight eventually does happen.
Facing Vieira in January

Pennington will take on Ketlen Vieira at the UFC event on Jan. 14, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pennington has won her last four fights with the most recent coming on April 9 against Aspen Ladd. It should be a fun matchup against Vieira who owns two straight wins over former UFC champs in Miesha Tate and Holly Holm.
Win streak hits four
BantamweightUFC
April 9, 2022
Pennington defeated Aspen Ladd via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 273 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
It was a typical Pennington fight in the sense that it quickly turned into a sloppy brawl. Both women were content at swinging wild haymakers at each other over the course of the first ten minutes, and there's zero doubt Raquel got the better of the action. She fired off considerably more volume than Ladd and was essentially only damaged on counter strikes. The tide turned in Round 3 when Aspen was able to get her grappling game going a bit, but Pennington had already done enough over the course of the first ten minutes to secure the victory. Raquel's long-term outlook is limited because she'll turn 34 years of age later this year, but it's impossible to argue with the results of late. Pennington has won four in a row and five of six dating back to July 2019.

Pennington will sub in to face Aspen Ladd on the UFC 273 card April 9 after Irene Aldana was forced to withdraw for an undisclosed reason, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pennington is coming off of three straight victories and will take her next fight on rather short notice looking to extend it to seven. Pennington holds an advantage of an inch of both reach and height over her opponent.
Taps out heavy opponent
BantamweightUFC
December 18, 2021
Pennington defeated Macy Chiasson via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:07 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Pennington fights are rarely pretty, and this one was no exception. She struggled a bit with the physicality of Chiasson in Round 1, which isn't surprising since her opponent checked in 2.5 pounds overweight. Pennington began to land a bit more regularly on the feet in Round 2 before clamping on a quick 10-finger guillotine choke when Chiasson left her neck exposed. It didn't appear to be all that dangerous at first, but Chiasson tapped out almost immediately. Pennington's physical gifts are extremely limited, but she isn't going to beat herself and has fought a lot of top fighters in multiple weight classes. "Rocky" is 4-1 in her past five bouts dating back to July 2019.
