Rossi made his Ed Carpenter Racing debut and had a more impressive race than his finish indicates. After stumbling in qualifying to begin the race in 20th, Rossi moved up the field despite starting on the primary tire -- a strategy that became suboptimal after a caution on Lap 1. He'll look to qualify better at Thermal, but this race should give him some confidence moving forward.
