Despite starting on the front row and running inside the top five, trouble with the right-rear tire of the car in the pits lost Herta track position and momentum. Things went from bad to worse later in the race for the championship hopeful when an unexpected additional stop for fuel kept him deep in the field. Herta leaves Florida with a 16th-place finish and 15 championship points to start the season.
