The Mercedes rookie would start P17 on the grid and have his work cut out for him in these 50 laps on the streets of Las Vegas. He would get tangled up in some contact on the opening lap and suffer some minor damage requiring a quick pit stop on lap 2. Antonelli would then be hit with a 5-second penalty for a false start at the beginning of the grand prix. Just when things looked bleak for the young driver he would begin his drive forward. Fantastic pace and driving would allow him to race up to P4 by lap 30. He would hold off Oscar Piastri to secure that at the checkered flag. Antonelli would promote to P3 after the race conclusion and Lando Norris' disqualification.
