Wins Chinese Grand Prix
Formula One
March 23, 2025
Piastri bounced back from the disappointment of his late-race mistake at last week's 2025 season opener in Australia by converting pole position into an assured victory during the Chinese Grand Prix - leading home team mate Lando Norris for a McLaren 1-2, Formula 1.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Piastri would run a controlled and well-managed grand prix from start to finish. He would lead wire-to-wire and build a good gap back to his teammate Norris. The gap would sit at about 3-seconds in the closing laps but a brake problem for Norris would cause him to fade to 9+ seconds adrift of Piastri at the checkered flag. The win for the young driver is a nice rebound performance after his disappointment in Australia in round 1.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
The Australian rookie Piastri has quite the shoes to fill in his first season with Formula One, taking former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo's spot as Lando Norris' teammate for the 2023 campaign. Piastri was quite the phenom in his last season with Formula 2 in 2021, winning a total of six times, earning 252 points, and walking away with the Driver's Championship after just 23 starts in the series. The driver of the No. 81 will have a lot of eyes on his on-track performance this year, as McLaren is famous for their incoming drivers having issues sufficiently adapting to the feeling and handling of the car. In the upcoming season, Piastri's greatest challenge will be learning how to adjust his racing style to fit the capabilities of the MCL36 and where he fits amongst all the new talent on the grid this season.
