Strong start with DCR
IRL
March 2, 2025
VeeKay finished ninth in the IndyCar Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
VeeKay was the final full-time driver to get a spot on the IndyCar grid when he signed with Dale Coyne Racing in mid-February. He enjoyed an excellent debut with DCR, starting 12th and tallying the team's first top-10 finish since 2023. VeeKay avoided disaster on Lap 1 as he navigated around Nolan Siegel just before Siegel became involved in a three-car pileup. VeeKay was then able to pit and change off the alternate tire in what became the preferred strategy during the race. It was a strong result for both driver and team, as VeeKay walked away with 22 points.
