Speeds and risk climbed in equal measure on a fraught Fast Friday presented by Turtle Wax, as drivers battled torrid track conditions and gusty winds in the final day of preparations before PPG Presents Armed Forces Qualifying this weekend for the 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. 2024 "500" pole sitter McLaughlin turned the fastest lap of the day and event, 233.954 mph, in the No. 3 Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet, IndyCar.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Increased boost levels of an extra 100 horsepower would send speeds soaring Friday in many mock qualifying runs. McLaughlin would turn in the fastest lap of the day and push the 234 mph mark. He beat out Scott Dixon to lead Fast Friday for the Indianapolis 500. The Penske Racing star looks like a good bet to challenge for the pole position next week at the Brickyard.
