Taylor Gray

Joe Gibbs Racing
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gray makes the jump from the truck series to the Xfinity Series in 2025. The young driver is coming off a 14 Top-10 finish and sixth-place points finish with TRICON Garage last season. Gray now takes over the No. 54 Toyota that was Chandler Smith's No. 81 Toyota last year. Smith drove the car to two victories and 22 Top-10 finishes before a fifth-place finish in the points. Crew chief Jason Ratcliff will join Gray in the No. 54 Toyota and put his talent to work. Gray has won all through the lower divisions of ARCA Menards racing and should prove to be a quick study behind the wheel of a strong Gibbs' Toyota. It should be just a matter of short time before he finds the win column in the Xfinity Series and puts his name into championship contention. Read Past Outlooks

XFINITY Series
February 14, 2025
Gray was fastest in Happy Hour practice for the United Rentals 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 186.004 mph.
ANALYSIS
The young newcomer to Joe Gibbs Racing turned some heads in this lone practice ahead of pole qualifying at Daytona. Gray piloted the No. 54 Toyota to the top of the scoring pylon by beating out young ace, William Sawalich. Gray was really making an impact and racing competitively last season in the truck series. It appears he's poised to make a big splash in the Xfinity Series opener this weekend at Daytona.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Gray would make some nice progression in 2023. It would be his first full Craftsman Truck Series slate of action and he wouldn't disappoint. The youngster would grab three Top-5 and six Top-10 finishes on his way to a very solid 14.6 average finish. It all added up to a respectable 15th-place finish in the final driver standings. Gray's best tracks were intermediate ovals and short tracks for the most part, although he did have a couple nice drives on road circuits. Gray's potential is just being tapped as he's a tender 18-years-old to start the 2024 season. He'll be paired with veteran crew chief, Jeff Hensley, this season and the two will look to continue his development and improvement.
Gray's two seasons of part-time racing in this division of NASCAR are now complete and now the soon-to-be 18-year-old driver is ready to take on a full slate of races for the first time. Gray's 13 starts over the last two seasons have netted a pair of Top-10 finishes with short tracks appearing to be his biggest strength. TRICON Garage, formerly David Gilliland Racing, will pair Gray with ace crew chief, Chad Johnston, and look to make a big splash in Gray's rookie season. The young driver has a lot of potential, so most of the burden will be on this race team to provide Gray with a fast truck week-in and week-out.
