Euro 2016: Monday Cheat Sheet

This article is part of our Euro 2016 series.

Editor's note: I apologize for not having a Sunday cheat sheet. Due to some technical difficulties on my end, I was unable to get it completed before lineup lock.

MATCHES (EDT)

12:00 p.m: Italy v. Spain
3:00 p.m: England v. Iceland

ODDS REPORT

EXPECTED CORNER TAKERS

Italy: Antonio Candreva, Alessandro Florenzi
Spain: David Silva, Nolito
England: Wayne Rooney
Iceland: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Johan Berg Gudmundsson

PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS

GOALKEEPER

Gianluigi Buffon, ITA v. SPA: Italy allowed one goal during their three group play matches, shutting out Belgium and Sweden before going 84 minutes until Robbie Brady broke their scoreless streak. However, Buffon wasn't in goal for that match, as head coach Antonio Conte rotated significantly with the top spot in the group assured. The odds say Spain are favored, but the Italy defense is certainly strong enough to keep them out.

DEFENDER

Giorgio Chiellini, ITA v. SPA: While he doesn't take many shots and doesn't cross, Chiellini will fill the rest of the stat sheet, and because he's a centerback, he offers some decent salary savings that can be spent elsewhere.

Kyle Walker, ENG v. ICE: Of England's starting fullbacks, Walker offers more than Danny Rose in terms of the attack, though either one could turn a cross into an assist. However, if Ryan Bertrand gets the start over Rose, he'd be the top play.

MIDFIELDER

MIDFIELDER

Wayne Rooney, ENG v. ICE: England are expected to dominate Iceland, which means they'll likely be taking plenty of shots and winning a good number of corners. That fits perfectly for Rooney, who has taken eight shots and sent in 18 crosses (he didn't take corners in their first game) in their three group stage matches.

Antonio Candreva, ITA v. SPA: If he can overcome the hamstring issue that kept him out of Italy's final group stage match, Candreva offers a solid floor because he's on corners. The Spanish defense has been far from elite, and Candreva should be able to accumulate the fantasy points with a few shots in addition to the crosses.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, ICE v. ENG: England may be heavily favored, but they are far from a strong defensive unit, and Sigurdsson, who plays in the Premier League with the guys he'll be facing, continues to do it all for Iceland, leading them in shots, shots on target and tackles won, though it's worth noting that he doesn't cross nearly as much as he does for Swansea.

FORWARD

Daniel Sturridge, ENG v. ICE: You want exposure to the England attack, and Sturrige is cheaper than both Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy on DraftKings with just as much upside. However, he's the most expensive option of the three on Mondogoal, with Vardy offering the most discount there. Any of the three could have big games, but Sturridge has the most consistency in terms of shots.

Lorenzo Insigne, ITA v. SPA: I know, he's probably not going to start, but you have to wonder why Insigne hasn't gotten a chance to play, as Graziano Pelle had minus-1 fantasy points on DraftKings in his last game, Eder had one point in their opening match before scoring 14 (with a goal), Simone Zaza had minus-2 fantasy points against Ireland thanks in part to seven fouls committed, while Ciro Immobile had two points against the Irish. Insigne had an excellent domestic season with Napoli and the forwards ahead of him seem to be doing so little that there's no reason to give him a run out.
