Irie (illness) is still not ready to return to the match squad yet but is progressing well, coach Julian Schuster said in the press conference. "His progress and his overall performance are positive. There are still a few things to work on, but we're giving him time. These are positive signs that we'll continue to monitor. However, he's not yet an option for the squad this weekend."
ANALYSIS
Irie hasn't featured since the Bundesliga opener after suffering from malaria, a mortal illness, and struggling to recover from it. The forward is progressing well toward a return that should happen before the end of the year if everything goes as planned. Irie will be a good addition to the rotation in Freiburg's frontline once he is fully fit and available.

Irie has signed a contract with Freiburg joining from french side Troyes, the club announced. "Cyriaque is very talented and has very good basic qualities.
