Retires from football
Ibrahimovic (calf) announced his retirement from football after Sunday's Serie A finale.
ANALYSIS
Ibrahimovic truly had a career like no other, winning nine league titles across three different countries in 10 seasons from 2006/07-2015/16 with Inter, AC Milan, Barcelona and PSG, and then winning another Scudetto with the Rossoneri last season in 2021/22. He also won two Eredivisie titles with Ajax at the beginning of the millenium, a Carabao Cup with Manchester United in 2017, and he made a huge impact in MLS during a two-season stint with the Galaxy after coming off an ACL tear at the age of 36, to say nothing of earlier spells with Juventus and his boyhood club Malmo. Injuries limited the now-41-year-old to just four league appearances this season with Milan, and he has just announced his retirement after 21 years in professional football. His career tally includes 156 goals in Serie A, 113 in Ligue 1, 53 in MLS, 48 in the Champions League, 35 in the Eredivisie, 17 in the Premier League, 16 in La Liga and of course 62 goals in 122 international appearances for Sweden.

Ibrahimovic is expected to return to training later this month, according to Sky Sports Italy.
ANALYSIS
"At the end of December or beginning of January, he will work on the pitch," Pioli said. "His example, his determination, his mentality and his capacity to prepare each training session has probably increased the level of the team. His teammates have done well to follow him and grow."
