Tien won 2-4, 4-2, 1-4, 4-0, 4-1 over Alex Michelsen in the semifinals of Jeddah on Saturday.

Tien upset his No. 41-ranked countryman in five sets across one hour and 36 minutes to reach the first final of his career. The 19-year-old American has posted a 3-1 record so far at the event en route to the title match. Tien will take on either No. 6 Luca Van Assche or Joao Fonseca (0-1 H2H) for a chance to win the Next Gen ATP Finals. The American previously lost to Fonseca earlier this week in four sets.
