Suspension reduced on appeal
February 3, 2023
Lepchenko successfully appealed the ITF and had her four-year doping suspension reduced to 21 months Friday, and she'll be eligible to return to competition May 19.
Lepchenko was handed a provisional suspension in August 2021 after she tested positive for a banned substance, but upon appeal she was deemed to have "no fault or negligence" since she was able to prove she unknowingly ingested a tainted dietary supplement. The 21-month ban is backdated to the date of the positive test, so she can return to the court in May.
