Opening his third straight spring season as a starting quarterback, Ta'amu drew a tough assignment in the three-time champion Stallions. His sub-50.0 percent completion rate and interception underscored how ragged an afternoon it was for him, but Ta'amu connected with seven different targets overall and tossed a go-ahead four-yard touchdown to Chris Rowland just before halftime. Ta'amu will draw what should be a more favorable matchup in Week 2, when the Defenders host the Showboats on Saturday night.
