Lombardi started Saturday's 19-12 loss to the Roughnecks and completed eight of 18 passes for 61 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding three rushes for 30 yards. He was replaced by Danny Etling with 7:57 remaining in the third quarter.

ANALYSIS
Lombardi was getting his first taste of regular-season action since the 2023 season at Northern Illinois, and the rust was evident. However, the mobile signal-caller did see a 49-yard touchdown run called back in the second quarter on a personal foul penalty against Siaosi Mariner. Lombardi was eventually replaced by Etling, who figures to head into next Sunday's USFL Conference Championship Game against the Stallions as the No. 2 quarterback behind Bryce Perkins (ankle).
