2025 Fantasy Outlook
Copper enjoyed plenty of success over her final four seasons in Chicago, but she was traded to the Mercury before the 2024 campaign. Despite playing alongside the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, Diana Taurasi, Copper had a career-best year, averaging a career-high 21.1 points to go with 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.4 minutes per game. Availability hasn't been a concern for the 30-year-old, as she hasn't missed more than six games in any of her nine professional seasons. Copper is entering a contract year in 2025 and should have plenty of opportunities to showcase her abilities following Taurasi's retirement and Natasha Cloud's departure. The Mercury acquired Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally during the offseason, but Copper was consistently dominant during her first year in Phoenix, and she has plenty of upside heading into 2025. Leading scorer in defeat
Copper totaled 15 points (5-13 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 76-69 Game 1 overtime loss to the Liberty.
ANALYSIS
The Mercury rested most of their key players late in the regular season, and Copper was held under 20 minutes of playing time in each of her last two appearances. Her role unsurprisingly bounced back to begin the playoffs Sunday, but she fell just short of leading Phoenix to a Game 1 win. The Mercury will presumably lean heavily on Copper during Wednesday's Game 2, as they now need back-to-back wins if they hope to advance in the postseason.

The Sky underwent a complete overhaul last offseason, moving on from Candace Parker (Aces), Courtney Vandersloot (Liberty) and Allie Quigley (free agent), so Copper was thrust into a leading role in 2023 and thrived, averaging a career-high 18.7 points to go with 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 31.2 minutes per game. Chicago rewarded Copper with a multi-year extension last September, and she appeared to be on track to be the cornerstone of the rebuilding franchise. However, the 2021 WNBA Finals MVP was surprisingly traded from the Sky to the Mercury in February, leaving Chicago's roster in flux while joining what has become a viable playoff contender in Phoenix. While the 29-year-old won't be the clear-cut No. 1 option as part of a team that now includes players like Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Rebecca Allen, Copper has proven her ability to make a real-life difference for her team and should remain a solid fantasy option in 2024. While her scoring production could take a hit with her new organization, she should have little trouble finding a prominent role in Phoenix.
