2024 Fantasy Outlook
Ionescu took a step forward during her third professional season in 2022, but her stats went in the wrong direction in 2023 as the Liberty formed a superteam. She averaged 17.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 31.5 minutes per game last year, with her rebounding and assist marks being the lowest of her career. However, she thrived from beyond the arc in her new role. She attempted 7.9 three-pointers per game and shot 44.8 percent from beyond the arc, both the best marks of her career. As a result, Ionescu led the league with 3.6 made three-pointers per game. The Liberty will retain Jonquel Jones in 2024 while also bringing back Breanna Stewart. While Ionescu's upside will likely remain somewhat limited as long as she has plenty of star power around her, she proved last year that she can still be one of the league's premier fantasy contributors and heads into 2024 with a high floor. Undergoes procedure on right thumb

December 8, 2024
Ionescu underwent a procedure to stabilize the UCL in her right thumb Friday, Alexa Philippou of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ionescu sustained a high-grade UCL tear in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals this year. Although she played in Game 5, she struggled with efficiency and ultimately required a procedure to address the issue. Ionescu's procedure was considered successful, and she's expected to resume on-court activities in approximately four weeks. Since she'll likely be able to return the court sometime in January, it seems likely that the 27-year-old will be available for the start of the WNBA season in May.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Ionescu turned in her strongest season to date in 2022, racking up 17.4 points, 7.1 boards, 6.4 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while playing in all 36 regular-season games. However, the Liberty completely overhauled the team's landscape in the offseason, including the addition of veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot. With Vandersloot on board, Ionescu will likely move off the ball in the starting lineup. However, that isn't unfamiliar territory for Ionescu, who played her final three collegiate seasons alongside point guard Maite Cazorla at Oregon and still compiled her best three campaigns in terms of assists during those years. Ionescu could experience a minor downturn in scoring and rebounding production following the additions of frontcourt stars Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones, but she can still contribute in numerous areas and should remain a highly-regarded fantasy asset entering 2023.
In her first full WNBA season, Ionescu averaged 11.7 points, 6.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 30.0 minutes per game. She shot 37.9 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from three and 91.1 percent from the free-throw line. The 5-foot-11 guard finished the season strong, scoring in double figures in 12 straight games, including a 14 point, 11 assist double-double in her first and only career playoff contest. While she wasn't the leading scorer for the Liberty last season, she's still the clear leader of the young squad and boasts plenty of fantasy upside given her ability to contribute across the board.
