Satou Sabally

26-Year-Old ForwardF
 Phoenix Mercury  WNBA
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Sabally had relatively consistent production over her first three seasons in the league, but she had some absences that led to some slow stretches. However, she appeared in 38 games in 2023 and put together a career-best season in nearly every statistical category. The 25-year-old averaged 18.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.8 steals in 33.1 minutes per game while shooting a career-high 43.5 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from beyond the arc. Sabally re-signed with the Wings during the offseason, but she underwent shoulder surgery in February that is expected to keep her sidelined through the Olympic break. She has plenty of late-season potential if she can return at full strength, but Maddy Siegrist, Lou Lopez Senechal and Kalani Brown could see increased run over the first half of the year. Traded to Phoenix
FPhoenix Mercury
January 31, 2025
The Wings traded Sabally to the Mercury on Friday, Kendra Andrews of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Details on the proposed three-team trade are unknown, though Sabally will join the Mercury via trade after she was cored by the Wings ahead of free agency. The 26-year-old spent the first five seasons of her career in Dallas, during which she averaged 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 0.9 steals across 28.4 minutes per contest. Sabally is coming off an injury-riddled 2024 campaign in which she appeared in only 15 regular-season outings, averaging 17.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 34.1 minutes per game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Sabally is a high-risk, high-reward fantasy prospect entering the 2023 season. When healthy, she's proven to be worth the investment, averaging 11.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.5 steals over 21.7 minutes per game in 2022. Unfortunately, she hasn't appeared in more than 16 games in any of her first three WNBA seasons while battling various injuries. If willing to stomach the risk, Sabally has the upside of a player landing in the first three or four rounds of fantasy drafts, but be prepared with backup options in the frontcourt.
Last season, Sabally didn't join the Wings until June because she was still competing in Europe, and then she missed nine games in the second half of the WNBA campaign because of an Achilles injury, so she only appeared in 17 total contests for Dallas. However, when she was on the floor, the second-year forward was one of the Wings' top producers. She averaged 11.9 points and 5.9 rebounds across 24.9 minutes, which were all lower than her rookie campaign, but that dropoff can likely be attributed to the lack of rhythm due to her lengthy absences. If Sabally is able to put together a full season in 2022, she'll likely finish as Dallas' No. 2 option behind Arike Ogunbowale.
