Recommended Pickup

Jorge De La Rosa, SP, COL -- Even after a solid comeback last season following Tommy John surgery, De La Rosa seemed to carry a lot of downside heading into 2014. Most of his value came from his 16 wins and 3.49 ERA, both of which looked rather unsustainable considering his weak 6.0 K/9 rate and a 1.38 WHIP. However, he's shown some unexpected skills resurgence in 2014, with his fastball velocity up a full mile per hour from last season, and his slider up to 87 miles per hour, the fastest it's been in his career. With his elbow injury in the rearview mirror, De La Rosa has rode his improved arsenal to a more palatable 7.3 K/9 rate and a career-best 55.8 percent ground ball rate. The Rockies look like a much more competitive team than in 2013, so the wins should continue to trickle in at a decent rate for De La Rosa, while his renewed velocity gives him a better chance at besting last season's ratios.

Other Recent Recommendations: Jonathan Singleton, Trevor Plouffe, Michael Saunders, Oswaldo Arcia, and Tommy Medica
