Tyler Mahle

Mahle needed Tommy John surgery, conducted in May of 2023. He embarked on a rehab assignment in early July. After compiling 18 innings spread across six starts, Mahle was activated in early August. He managed to make three starts, covering 12.2 innings before being shut down by shoulder soreness. Mahle's velocity was down, which is unusual for a Tommy John returnee, but perhaps it was related to his shoulder. The assumption is that Mahle will be healthy in the spring, but until he takes the hill, there is uncertainty. The Rangers are expecting him to be in the rotation, but they'll have to manage his workload. Just 30 years old, there is time for Mahle to enter the fantasy circle of trust, but for now he's a speculative dart, best suited for leagues with a deep reserve. Read Past Outlooks
