Ross returned from Tommy John surgery last season to give an effective performance over 74 innings as a swingman. In 10 starts and 15 relief appearances, he produced a 3.77 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. All three of his 20.6 K%, 9.0 BB% and 41.0% groundball rate were slightly worse than league average, however, so expectations should probably remain modest for him going forward. He signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Phillies in December and should open the year in long relief, though if an injury strikes the team's rotation before Andrew Painter is ready for his MLB debut, he could make a handful of starts.
