2026 Fantasy Outlook
Cincinnati extended Martinez the qualifying offer last winter and he accepted at $21.05 million for the 2025 season. The Reds might have hoped for a little more at that price tag, but they can't complain much given that Martinez ate up 165.2 innings during the regular season, winning 11 games. He spent most of the final two months in the bullpen after the team acquired Zack Littell at the deadline, and Martinez thrived in relief, posting a 2.61 ERA and .183 BAA compared to a 4.72 ERA and .264 BAA as a starter. Since returning from a four-year stint in Japan, Martinez has pitched to a 3.67 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 524.2 total frames. He lacks dominance in the traditional sense but throws the kitchen sink with six distinct pitches, and the right-hander rarely hurts himself with walks. After making a career-high 26 starts last season, his deployment could shift again if another team values him more in the bullpen. The 35-year-old swingman should still end up making a fair number of starts over the course of the long season. Read Past Outlooks
