After a strong season at Double-A in 2021 (2.46 ERA and 10.7 K/9), Sands looked like a top rotation prospect. Despite a 5.55 ERA at Triple-A, Sands was called up to the majors several times last season thanks to a strong strikeout rate (10.5 K/9). What Sands lacks in velocity (91.7 average mph fastball) he makes up for with a sharp curve ball as his spin rate ranked in the 88th percentile per Statcast.
