Mahle was effective when healthy in 2025 but missed nearly three months with a shoulder injury. Following 2023 Tommy John elbow surgery, the right-hander entered 2025 with full health and it showed early. He walked off the mound following his 12th start on May 28 with a 1.64 ERA and just two home runs allowed over 66 innings. Two outings later, Mahle's shoulder barked, and he eventually landed on the 60-day IL with a rotator cuff strain. Mahle finished with a 2.18 ERA (1.13 WHIP), but in addition to a favorable .260 BABIP, any number of estimators suggest luck was on his side. He didn't miss many bats nor put away hitters (19.1 K%, 23.2 Whiff%). Mahle is expected to land with some team, but he'll be five years removed from the career-high 180 IP of 2021; since then, the right-hander has thrown just 245.2 frames over the last four years.
