2025 Fantasy Outlook
Castillo is not the same pitcher he used to be. His repertoire has changed drastically since he joined the Mariners, as he's most notably cut way back on the changeup which used to be his bread-and-butter pitch during his time with the Reds. His velocity also continues to move in the wrong direction, as he averaged less than 95 mph between his four-seamer and sinker for the first time in his career in 2025. Unsurprisingly, that also meant fewer strikeouts for the 33-year-old, with his 21.7 percent strikeout rate this past season marking the first time he's fanned less than the league average. Castillo has still been effective, posting an ERA in the mid-3s for the third year in a row, and he's been a workhorse in making 30-plus starts each of those years. "La Piedra" remains a useful fantasy starter; he's just no longer close to being an ace and the odds are low that he'll get back to that level. Read Past Outlooks
