2026 Fantasy Outlook
Williams' ERA dropped significantly year over year from 4.86 to 3.06, which is good. His walk rate went from a poor 9.6 percent to an unacceptable 11.8 percent, which is bad. Williams' 83 walks were the most in baseball, which is the main reason why his ERA indicators like SIERA (4.35) painted a cloudier picture than his actual ERA. That's not to say there weren't positives to take away from the 26-year-old's performance in 2025. Williams stayed healthy for 31 starts after missing half of the previous year to injury, and he accumulated 173 strikeouts over 167.2 innings. He also excelled after the All-Star break (2.18 ERA, 78:26 K:BB in 70.1 frames) and in his lone postseason outing (six innings, zero earned runs, eight strikeouts). It's possible the strong finish is a sign of things to come from a 26-year-old who was once one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball. However, it will be difficult to fully trust Williams until he shows he can throw strikes at even an average-ish level. Read Past Outlooks
