Means underwent a second Tommy John Surgery in June of 2024 after the first one in April of 22 was not able to hold up to the rigors of pitching. Means attempted to make it back to the majors in 2025, but he did not show enough in his rehab outings to be added to the roster for Cleveland's postseason appearance. Cleveland had signed Means to a one year deal for $1M with a team option for up to $6M. None of the incentives were reached as he did not pitch in 2025, so his base salary is $4.5M and it is expected Cleveland will be keeping him around for 2026. Means worked 26.2 innings in the minors while on rehab last season and pitched to a 6.41 ERA as he worked his way back into pitching shape on the mound. He would be a true wildcard options in 50-round leagues or mono leagues because we have been down this road before with him where he is expected back in a season only to have another setback which derails his return.
