Doval boasted a 1.04 ERA and 0.81 WHIP through the first two months of 2025 - a span of 26 innings - and rode a 21-game scoreless streak to reclaim closing duties for San Francisco. Unfortunately, that's where the highlights end, as the 27-year-old has struggled to maintain consistency throughout the past two campaigns. From the date his scoreless streak ended, Doval carried a 5.26 ERA, 1.65 WHIP over the remainder of the season (39.1 innings). He closed games for the Giants for a few months, but was relegated back to a setup role after a mid-season traded to the Yankees. The role change probably would have happened sooner if San Francisco hadn't drawn significant interest in the hard-throwing righty on the trade market. Doval's control issues continue to plague him, making him a WHIP liability for any fantasy manager willing to click his name in 2026 draft rooms with the hope he'll fall into save chances for the Yankees, which appears unlikely with David Bednar on the team.
