The former catching prospect is likely done in the majorls as he will turn 40 two weeks into the regular season and is coming off a season where he looked like he was playing as a 50-year old DH. Santana retains his outstanding understanding of the strike zone, and is only a year removed from a gold glove at first base, but his bat aged over the course of the 2025 season. It was one thing when we saw Santana struggle like this in Kansas City in 2021, but when 39-year old players have bad seasons, we just don't see rebounds. Santana may end up on a minor league deal with a club who is looking to see if there is anything left in his bat, but based off what we saw in the second half of last season, the answer is obvious.
