2024 Fantasy Outlook
Dunn was a minor-league Rule 5 pick prior to the 2023 season and showed enough in his one year in the Phillies' organization that he's on a 40-man roster a year later, albeit not with Philadelphia, who sent him to Milwaukee in November. Dunn hit .271/.396/.506 with 21 homers and 16 steals in 119 games last season, though plenty of caveats apply to impressive numbers by a 25-year-old at the Double-A level. Dunn also struck out 27.5% of the time, continuing a theme which had seen him strike out 28.6% of the time during his three seasons in the Yankees' organization. He's also a below-average defender at second base who doesn't have the arm for third, so his path to the majors requires him to hit his way there rather than survive as a glove-first utility man. His Breakout Player of the Year at the Arizona Fall League indicates he's trending in the right direction, and the likes of Owen Miller and Andruw Monasterio won't provide the stiffest competition for at-bats. Still, skepticism is warranted, as you won't find many minor-leagues with his combination of age and whiffs who went on to have success at the highest level. Read Past Outlooks
