2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dunn received his first taste of the majors in 2024 and had a .221/.282/.316 slash line in 41 games before he was demoted to Triple-A Nashville and missed the rest of the season due to a back injury. He struck out at a 38.5 percent clip, which is a continuation of his swing-and-miss tendencies in the minors. The Brewers have a major infield hole to fill this winter following the departure of Willy Adames, which should result in Joey Ortiz moving to shortstop. Dunn could see some playing time at the hot corner, but Milwaukee will likely be looking for an upgrade at third base and won't want him filling a regular role throughout the season. Moves to 60-day IL
2BMilwaukee Brewers
Back
July 15, 2024
The Brewers transferred Dunn (back) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dunn hasn't played at any level since June 12, with his last appearance coming with the Brewers before he was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on June 19. The Brewers later revoked the transaction June 27, instead placing him on their 10-day injured list with a back strain. Though Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Dunn's placement on the 10-day IL that the utility infielder would be sidelined for at least one month, the 26-year-old's move to the 60-day IL now indicates that Milwaukee is preparing for him to miss at least two months. In a corresponding move, Brewers selected the contract of outfielder Brewer Hicklen to take Dunn's spot on the 40-man roster.

Stat Review
How does Oliver Dunn compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Dunn was a minor-league Rule 5 pick prior to the 2023 season and showed enough in his one year in the Phillies' organization that he's on a 40-man roster a year later, albeit not with Philadelphia, who sent him to Milwaukee in November. Dunn hit .271/.396/.506 with 21 homers and 16 steals in 119 games last season, though plenty of caveats apply to impressive numbers by a 25-year-old at the Double-A level. Dunn also struck out 27.5% of the time, continuing a theme which had seen him strike out 28.6% of the time during his three seasons in the Yankees' organization. He's also a below-average defender at second base who doesn't have the arm for third, so his path to the majors requires him to hit his way there rather than survive as a glove-first utility man. His Breakout Player of the Year at the Arizona Fall League indicates he's trending in the right direction, and the likes of Owen Miller and Andruw Monasterio won't provide the stiffest competition for at-bats. Still, skepticism is warranted, as you won't find many minor-leagues with his combination of age and whiffs who went on to have success at the highest level.
