2025 Fantasy Outlook
Marsh captured a spot in the Royals' Opening Day rotation with a strong Cactus League showing and went on to post a 3.63 ERA and 61:19 K:BB across 67 innings covering his first 12 starts of the season. After that, however, he collected a 5.52 ERA the rest of the way while also spending some time in the minors and in the bullpen. Marsh greatly improved his control in 2024 in cutting his walk rate to 7.1 percent, but it seemed to come at the expense of bat-missing as his strikeout rate also fell to 22.5 percent. The 26-year-old is a fly ball pitcher who has struggled with home runs and hard contact, and his xERA has been worse than his ERA in both seasons (which isn't great considering his career ERA is 4.96). Marsh will have to fight for a rotation spot on an ascending Kansas City team. Read Past Outlooks

Resumes mound work
Marsh (shoulder) resumed throwing bullpen sessions at the end of May and has continued his throwing progression at the Royals' spring training facility in Arizona, MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The report doesn't specify whether Marsh has resumed facing hitters yet, but that will be the next step in his progression once he gets enough bullpen sessions under his belt. The right-hander has been on the shelf all season after suffering from shoulder soreness early in spring training and then experiencing a setback in early April. Marsh posted a 4.53 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 129 innings across 26 appearances (25 starts) with the Royals in 2024, but the big club may not have a spot available for him in the rotation once he's ready to return from the 60-day injured list, likely at some point in July.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Possibly on trade block
The Royals could consider dangling Marsh in trade talks for offensive help, Will Sammon and Katie Woo of The Athletic report.
ANALYSIS
Marsh, 26, had an uneven 2024 season, finishing with a 4.53 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 123:39 K:BB across 129 regular-season frames. He did greatly improve his control this campaign and has been a pretty reliable bat-misser during his pro career. That, along with team control through 2029, should garner interest if the Royals do indeed shop him.
