Thomas has put up some gaudy minor league statisticas over the past three seasons, but that has not yet translated to much major league success. Thomas hit 31 homers with a .277 average between Double-A and Triple-A in 2024 and hit .291/.366/.529 with 18 homers in Las Vegas around some back and forth callups to Sacramento. Thomas hit .225/.267/.417 with the Athletics with farr too many strikeouts as he struck out 49 times in 120 at bats. He has show the ability to make hard contact and has the athleticsm to many all three spots in the outfield, but is best used at a corner spot where his arm strenth is a deterrent to opponents attempting to take the extra base. If Thomas cannot make better contact at the big league level, he is going to be limited to a reserve outfield role and a short-sided one at that. Thomas went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, a walk and four total runs scored in Saturday's 17-4 win over the Angels.

Analysis
Thomas' homer stretched the Athletics' lead to 7-0 in just the second inning. The reserve outfielder has struggled to see steady playing time, though he hasn't helped his cause much by going just 3-for-22 over his previous nine games before Saturday's big performance. On the year, he has a .235/.287/.459 slash line with five homers, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases over 95 plate appearances. Thomas will likely continue to see most of his playing time versus left-handed pitchers.
