2023 Fantasy Outlook
Quijada tallied the Angels' first save after they traded Raisel Iglesias, but only finished with three on the season across his 42 appearances. Still, the southpaw emerged as the Halos' left-handed specialist last season, holding same-sided hitters to a mere .115 BA. Quijada struck out 52 batters in 40.2 innings, with his mid-90's fastball responsible for 96% of those strikeouts. That's what happens when you throw the pitch 85% of the time! Quijada boasts an impressive 31.6% strikeout rate for his career, but he'll need to improve his control - his career walk rate is 14.5% - to remain in the high-leverage picture. The Angels recent addition of Carlos Estevez clouds the competition for saves, but Quijada was unlikely to rack up many chances anyway. He's still worth projecting for a handful, which certainly plays in AL-only formats. Read Past Outlooks

Returns from WBC
Quijada returned to Angels camp Monday after playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Quijada had a few big moments in the WBC, but he finished the tournament having allowed three runs over 2.1 innings. The left-hander is one of several Angels who has closing experience and could get a save chance or two with the team's ninth-inning role still undecided, though Carlos Estevez and Jimmy Herget appear to have the best chance of landing the closer job.
