2023 Fantasy Outlook
Reverting to 2020's short season level was optimistic, but there was hope Voit would rebound from a down 2021. Unfortunately, Voit continued his downward trend. He was slashing just .225/.317/.416 in 82 games when the Padres traded Voit to the Nationals in the Juan Soto/Josh Bell blockbuster. Voit fared no better in Washington, posting a .228/.295/.381 line over his final 55 games. He continued to hit fly balls at an elevated clip with above average exit velocity, but fewer cleared the fence as shown by a 16.7% HR/FB rate, well below his 22.9% career level. Compounding matters is Voit fanned at a career-worst 31.5% pace. As a 32-year-old righthanded hitting, below average fielding first basemen coming off a pair of down seasons, Voit may have to settle for a short-side platoon role. He's worth a flier in single-league formats, but Voit has lost his mixed-league appeal. Read Past Outlooks

Released by Milwaukee
The Brewers released Voit on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Voit earned a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster after he turned some heads during spring training, but his performance failed to carry over into the regular season. The 32-year-old first baseman holds a .549 OPS on the season through 74 plate appearances and could latch on with another team as a bench piece.

Voit needed surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in late March, which kept him out through the first week of May. He only played in 12 games before suffering a strained oblique, which kept him out until late June. By mid July, he was back on the shelf with a bone bruise and inflammation in his surgically repaired left knee. With him becoming unreliable from both a production and availability standpoint, the Yankees acquired Anthony Rizzo at the trade deadline. Knee issues and inconsistent playing time plagued Voit over the rest of the season, but he found a new home with more playing time security after a trade to the Padres in March. Voit should certainly be considered a durability risk, but his .252 xBA, .360 xwOBA and .497 xSLG illustrate that he should still be quite productive when he is in the lineup.
