2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ryan would be a very buzzy prospect for 2025 had he not needed Tommy John surgery Aug. 25 after an impressive first few starts in the big-league rotation. A converted infielder who first started pitching professionally in 2022, Ryan has high-end stuff, boasting a 96-mph four-seamer, plus slider and plus curveball. He's behind on the finer points of pitching, and his surgery is set to cost him the entire 2025 season. It won't be until at least 2027 that he attempts to top his career-high 104.1 innings from 2023. When he returns to game action in 2026, he'll already be 27. Read Past Outlooks

Placed on 60-day IL
The Dodgers placed Ryan (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ryan isn't expected to pitch in 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in August. He'll concede his spot on the 40-man roster for Clayton Kershaw (toe), who officially re-signed with Los Angeles on Thursday.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Ryan came down with shoulder fatigue during spring training and is expected to arrive in Oklahoma City in late May or early June. A divisive dynasty prospect due to wide-ranging expert opinions, Ryan turns 26 in August and has only made two career starts at Triple-A, so he is already a bit behind his peers developmentally due to starting off his pro career as an infielder. He had a 3.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 110 strikeouts in 104.1 innings last year, primarily with Double-A Tulsa. Those highest on Ryan see several plus pitches and a high ceiling as a starter, while others project him to end up as a high-leverage reliever.
