Rest-of-Season Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Bannon made his big-league debut for the Orioles last season and played in just four games. He was designated for assignment in August and bounced around three other teams before he landed in Houston during the offseason. The 26-year-old had a solid showing at the Triple-A level last year with a .249/.367/.421 slash line, 13 home runs and 10 steals in 99 games. The Astros' starting infield is locked in, but the utility role should be up for grabs following the departure of Aledmys Diaz. Bannon is unlikely to have much of a fantasy impact in 2023, even if he receives more opportunities than expected. Read Past Outlooks

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Bannon joined the Orioles' organization as part of the return in the Manny Machado trade. Since, he has shown the ability to make consistent contact and control the strike zone well, consistently racking up walk rates above 10%. While he's hit for power in the lower levels of the minors, Bannon is listed at just 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds and has struggled to slug at the higher levels of the minor leagues. Given that, his track record of hitting better against lefties, and lack of a defensive home, Bannon may struggle to find everyday playing time throughout his career. Even given those shortcomings, Bannon reached Triple-A Norfolk to conclude 2019 and was at the team's alternate site in 2020. That makes it a near certainty that he debuts in the major leagues this season as a 24-year-old, with the potential for regular at-bats given the thin nature of the Orioles' infield depth chart.
