Opening season on IL
The Angels placed Bachman on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to thoracic outlet syndrome, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bachman previously had shoulder surgery in the fall of 2023, and he's now tending to a new health concern that prevented him from making any appearances during the Cactus League. According to Bollinger, Bachman isn't expected to require surgery to address the condition, leaving the Angels optimistic that he might be able to avoid a stint on the 60-day IL and return within the next two months.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bachman was the ninth pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, and while he hasn't shown much consistency as a professional in the minors, he did reach the majors in 2023 while posting a solid 3.18 ERA over 11 appearances in 17.1 innings. Unfortunately, his year came to an early end due to a shoulder issue, and he's expected to miss at least the first month of the 2024 campaign as well. When healthy, Bachman regularly gets his fastball up to 99 mph, but he relies on his slider heavily; throwing that offering 60 percent of the time in his MLB action. The 24-year-old could be a closer someday, and assuming good health, he could see save chances by the end of the 2024 campaign. At this point, however, fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before using a draft pick or salary cap funds on Bachman.
